CROSS-SECTOR COMMUNITY CONVENINGS
CLIENT: WNET
Conferences: Issues & Ideas, Partnership Development, Community Engagement
ABOUT
Cross-Sector Community Convenings was a series of moderated private forums with 300-plus thought leaders and nonprofit executives from across New York City who discussed the top issues impacting their communities. The participants represented hospitals and healthcare providers, colleges and universities, economic development groups, art organizations, cultural institutions, social service organizations, legal services organizations, religious institutions, and more, as well as independent artists, activists, journalists, and community organizers.
In Year 1, the leaders identified seven issues above all others: gentrification; systemic racism; ethnic and religious discrimination; healthcare and mental health; political accountability and transparency; cultural representation; and cultural sustainability.
In Year 2, the conversations focused on partnership opportunities among the leaders and with the station. In Year 3, the discussions examined racism and discrimination in New York City.
Executive Reports included summaries and analyses of the conversations, statistical analysis of forum questionnaires, and strategic recommendations for WNET to maximize opportunities for collaboration with this unique group.
